Corum Company History:

The company was founded in 1955 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Watchmaker Gaston Ries and his nephew, and creative designer, Rene Bannwart worked together to make original and trend-setting watches. The name Corum comes from the Latin word quorum which means the necessary number of people needed to make a society or assembly official. Their logo, the upright key, goes back to their first motto, "The key to perfect time." It still remains relevant with their newest motto, "Unlock and conquer." Since its inception Corum has strived for creativity and individuality in the world of fine watches. Some examples of this are the Corum coin watches made from real $20 American gold coins & Swiss Ingots. These watches were Corum's claim to fame. Though this had been done before on pocket watches, they were the first to do this on a wristwatch. Another example is the Corum Bubble with its overly domed crystal and unique dials. In technical prowess, the Admiral's Cup Marees stands nearly alone in its ability to calculate the tides of the sea. Their unique Golden Bridge model is yet another example. The watch has four sapphire crystal sides which allow you to see every side of the beautiful and detailed linear movement, which is held only by the golden bridge. Many people consider pre-owned Corum watches, used Corum watches & second hand Corum watches all the same, but a Gray & Sons Corum watch is something different altogether.
